This 1960s Colonial in Lynnfield was the home of a childhood friend of the homeowner. She would go over to the house all the time to play with her friend and loved it! It just so happened that when she and her husband were looking to move back to the area the home was on the market and they bought it.
While they loved the home as she remembered it to be, it did need some updates to work for a modern family of four.
Their main goal was to create an open and airy space where they could entertain, but still be casual enough for daily living, with a good connection to the back yard. We designed an addition for a new kitchen, pantry, eat-in area, and family room to gain more living space. A non-negotiable in the renovation was keeping an existing tree in the backyard where she and her friend used to play. We designed the outdoor porch so that the tree could remain and is a focal point in the yard to be enjoyed. Also in the addition was a much-needed mudroom and laundry room that could handle their daily, active lifestyle and kids’ sport.
