Farmhouses are ubiquitous in New England- from rustic centuries old barns to Greek Revival estates. What does a homeowner do with new land and a desire to recreate that famed aesthetic? The answer is a ‘modern farmhouse’. This new construction in tiny Newbury borrows exterior and interior details from traditional white farmhouses- and meshes them with the clean and simple lines of contemporary design. The front entrance features a covered porch with metal roof and bright robin’s egg blue door. Inside, an open floor plan with light color palette combines transitional and traditional finishes. The shiplap paneling throughout is crisp feeling rather than rustic. The result is a perfect modern farmhouse in an idyllic wooded neighborhood.
